With over 25 years’ experience in executive search and senior-level recruitment, Gerry May has built a reputation as one of Northern Ireland’s most trusted headhunters. His early career in Manchester with PSD saw him specialise in Energy & Utilities and Social Housing, where he developed new client portfolios from the ground up and delivered senior appointments for high-profile organisations across the UK.
Returning to Northern Ireland in 2009, Gerry joined Forde May Consulting — then the region’s longest-established executive search firm — and went on to become Managing Director. Under his leadership, the firm developed specialist expertise in aerospace, automotive, and medical devices, while continuing to work extensively across other manufacturing sectors. He also carved out a strong public sector practice, managing complex, high-level searches for government departments, cross-border bodies, charities, and not-for-profit organisations. His experience includes the recruitment of Chairpersons, Non-Executive Directors, and Board members for some of Northern Ireland’s most prominent institutions.
Now leading May Consulting, Gerry combines this sector breadth with a meticulous, research-driven approach. Every search is built on deep market intelligence — mapping competitors, identifying key stakeholders, and using targeted outreach to connect with the right candidates, often before they appear on the open market.
